Surprisingly unpretentious, with extensive, pretty slopes. Gstaad is renowned as a jet set resort, but for 'ordinary' holiday makers, too, it has attractions - especially for those with a relaxed outlook, who can happily spend time on trains looking at the landscape without feeling it's precious trail time wasted.
