England

England is a country that shaped the world. From the massive imperial empire of the past to the decidedly modern country of the present, every period of England’s existence has been of great interest to the world.
Despite it rich history and grandeur, the past 100 years have not been kind to England. The fall of the empire was, and continues to be, devastating to English culture. The country stuggles through this modern era, not completely able to adjust to it’s diminished role.
It was once said that “to be born English is to win the lottery of life”, and while such a statement may sound egotistical to western ears, it’s no wonder why the English adopted this attitude. England is home to Stonehenge, Tower Bridge, a beautiful country side and world renowned universities. Not to mention the history! If ever there was a country with the right to boast, England is it.
